Rape accused judge refused to undergo DNA tests. The accused’s DNA sample could not be obtained even after 10 days had elapsed in the alleged sexual assault case in Sindh city of Sindh, which led to no significant progress in the investigation.
Despite several notices of the Joint Investigation Team of the Police (JIT) and the passing of seventeen days, Judge Imtiaz Bhutto, the accused of abusing the woman, neither joined the investigation nor appeared in the laboratory for DNA testing.
The JIT Sindh High Court was constituted on January 26, headed by Deputy Superintendent Ali Sher Khaskhali.
According to Dr Moinuddin Siddiqui, MS of Abdullah Shah Medical Institute Sehwan, DNA samples have been obtained from the accused woman and her clothing.
However, unless the police bring in the accused Imtiaz Bhutto, he cannot take DNA samples of them and till then the investigation into the matter will not progress.
On Wednesday, accused Imtiaz Hussain Bhutto expressed distrust of JIT Jamshoro police and requested access to DIG Hyderabad to transfer the investigation into the rape case to another district.
DIG Hyderabad Naeem Sheikh confirmed that he had received the application.
He said that he could not transfer the case on his own, but according to the rules, he had constituted a three-member committee comprising of police officers, which were SSP Jamshoro Amjad Sheikh, SSP Hyderabad Adeel Chandio and SP complaint cell. Contains Hyderabad.
It may be recalled that Civil Judge Imtiaz Hussain Bhutto had applied for pre-arrest bail in the Sindh High Court which was granted.
