What did the British MP see in Pakistan’s Kashmir? Debbie Abrahams, chairperson of the British Parliamentary Group’s delegation, said she was deported from India because of the Kashmiri people’s rights.
I had just gone to India to visit my close relatives and some old friends, where I had been staying for only 24 hours because the next day I had to leave for Islamabad where I had to visit Pakistan-administered Kashmir with my parliamentary delegation.
But unfortunately, I was stopped at Delhi airport.
Debbie Abrahams said she was barred from living in India because of the Kashmiri people’s rights.
I have also appealed to the Kashmir Power Group to work for human rights in the British Parliament, That we should visit India, Kashmir and the Line of Control and I hope that if I am allowed, I will visit India and Kashmir soon with my delegation. ”
Debbie Abrahams said she had a business visa issued by the Indian Embassy for a year in October last year. India did not provide E-visas for UK citizens and parliamentary delegations.
On being expelled from India, Debbie said: “Our delegation has determined that the British Parliament will be briefed on this incident in confidence and the reasons which will determine the basis for deportation from India.”
We were very embarrassed to be expelled from India, but the overwhelming reception of Pakistanis in Islamabad has greatly reduced the embarrassment of this bad event, for which I and my delegation are extremely grateful to Pakistanis. ”
Debbie added: ‘We are very grateful to the Pakistani government, with whose help and cooperation we not only had the opportunity to meet refugees and Kashmiri students in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, but we also spoke to them.
Even though our delegation had a brief visit, we still got to know about the situation in India’s Kashmir, and now it is our responsibility to ensure that we are not in the British Parliament only for the rights of Kashmiris. Make a voice for Kashmiris all over the world where human rights work is done.
